Biography

Born 1956 in Hyderabad, Jagdish did his Diploma in Painting from J.N.T. University, Hyderabad in 1978 and Post-Diploma in Mural Design from M.S.University, Baroda in 1980. He has had his solo shows ‘Masks and Collages du Papier’, ‘International Landscapes – Collages du Papier’, ‘Rubble Renewed’, ‘Friends and Neighbors’, ‘Millennial Pots and Masks’, ‘Potpurri’, ‘Animals and Pots’, ‘American Friends’, ‘Collages du Papier’ at De Graaf Fine Art Inc., USA; ‘Full Foliage’ at Mumbai; ‘Geometry of Nature’, ‘Panorama of Nature’, and ‘The Doors’ at Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. He has also participated in several group shows across India and aboard. He was the artist-in-residence at Lake Side Studios, Chicago. He has been honoured with several awards including The Pollock – Krasner Foundation Award, New York in 1991, Artists’ Council All India Miniature Biennale at Hyderabad in 1984, State Lalit Kala Academy Annual Exhibition at Andhra Pradesh in 1983 among others. He was also awarded the British Council and Charles Wallace India Travelling Grant for study at the Henry Moore Foundation in Britain in 1987, Lalit Kala Academy Research Grant at New Delhi in 1984-85 and Andhra Pradesh State Lalit Kala Academy Scholarship in 1978-80. He lives and works in Hyderabad.
