Biography

Employing defined perspective leading to empty horizons with minimal objects; Pratul experiments with variety of artistic medium expressing his critical engagement with civilizational models. Born 1974 in Orissa, Pratul presently lives and works in Ghaziabad, U.P. [Delhi vicinity]. He did his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College of Arts & Crafts in Bhubaneswar and MFA in Painting from the College of Art, New Delhi. He was invited for a residency at UNIDEE Cittadelarte, Italy in 2004 which culminated in a solo show there. Other solo exhibitions to his credit include at New Delhi in 2007, 2003 & 2001 and Rashtriya Lalit Kala Academy, Bhubaneswar in 1995. He has also participated in numerous group shows, to mention a few: ‘Proxy Horizon’, ‘Desaturation’ in New Delhi, 2008; ‘Walk the Line’, in Zurich, Switzerland, 2008; ‘Emerging India’, presented by Art Alive Gallery and S.A. Fine Arts, London, held at London in 2007, ‘Digressing Domains’ in new Delhi, 2006, ‘Shifting Focus’ in London, 2006 several others. He has received several awards including the M.F. Hussain Award from College of Art, New Delhi; Silver Jubilee Award of Utkal University, Orissa, 11th All India Exhibition Award of South Central Zone Cultural Center, Nagpur; and the Annual B.K. College of Art & Crafts, Award, amongst others.
