Biography

Born in 1921, Chittagong (now in Bangladesh), Hore completed his Diploma in Fine Arts from Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata in 1945. He was a Lecturer at Indian College of Art and Draughtsmanship, Kolkata from 1954-58. Later he joined Delhi Polytechnic of Art, New Delhi as a Senior Lecturer & Head of Graphic Arts Faculty from 1958-67. Between 1966-69 he was a Visiting Professor in Graphic Arts Faculty, M.S. University, Baroda and in Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan. In 1969, he joined the Department of Graphic Arts at Kala Bhavan as a Professor and taught there till 1984 and then joined as Professor Emeritus at Santiniketan. He was an elected member of the Society of Contemporary Artists and General Council of Lalit Kala Akademi, Kolkata. His works have been part of several solo shows and in major group shows at Lugano International Graphics Biennale, Switzerland, 1960; Venice Biennale, Italy; Tokyo Print Biennale, Japan, 1962; Sao Paulo Biennale, Brazil, 1963; I International Triennale, Lalit Kala Akademi, 1968; Ist International Graphics Exhibition, AIFACS, 1974. He passed away in 2006.
