Biography

Born in 1945, New Delhi, Nilima Sheikh completed her B.F.A and M.F.A from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda in 1971. During 1977-81 she taught painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda. Nilima has lectured on Indian art worldwide and has been invited as a delegate to Australia, South Africa, China and Bangladesh. She has participated in several solo shows and in major group shows including the Second Asia-Pacific Triennale of Contemporary Art, Brisbane in 1996; First Johannesburg Biennale, South Africa in 1995; Edge of Desire at Perth, Australia and Queens Museum of Art, New York in 2004-2005 amongst others. Nilimas research on the Pichwais of Nathdwara was supported by the National Handloom and Handicrafts Museum from 1986-87. She lives and works in New Delhi and Baroda.
