Biography

Born 1970, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, he completed his BFA in Sculpture at B.K. College of Arts and Crafts in Orissa (1991), and his MFA in Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda (1994) and consequently obtained a second MFA in Fine Sculpture from the Royal College of Arts, London (2002).

He has held solo exhibitions of his works including ‘Cults of Serendipity’, Frey Norris Gallery, San Francisco in 2012; ‘Metropolis of Mirage’, Nature Morte, New Delhi in 2011; ‘Nothing is Solid’, Mumbai (2007); at Berkley Square Gallery, London (2006); various shows in New Delhi and Mumbai in 2000-2005 and at Za moca Foundation Gallery, Tokyo (1998).

Amongst his group shows are‘Living Walls: where gallery walls become artist’s canvas’ A collaborative art project with Art Alive Gallery, 2013; ‘Indian Highway VI’,Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing in 2012; ‘Slipping Through The Cracks’, Lattitude 28, New Delhi in 2012; ‘A Further Global Encounter’, Grosvenor Vadehra Gallery, London in 2012; ‘Indian Highway IV’, Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art, France in 2011; ‘Transformation’, Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo in 2010; ‘Commonwealth Games Exhibition’, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 2010; ‘Beyond Globalization’, Beyond Art Space, Beijing in 2009; ‘Indian Art at swarovski ‘Crystal World’, 2nd Exhibition, Tirol- Osterreich, Austria in 2008; ‘Hear and Now: Young Voices from India’, London in 2007).

Jaganath won the Lalit Kala Akademi Award in1990, and the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society Award, New Delhi in 1996 and Centre Prize, C.I.I.C, London in 2002. He lives and works in New Delhi.
