Biography

Born in Neoli, Uttar Pradesh, 1945. She studied at the College of Art, Vanasthali, Rajasthan in 1961-62 and completed her Diploma in painting from College of Art, Lucknow in 1967. She did her post graduation in Painting at College of Art, New Delhi as vocational student during 1968-69. She has exhibited her oil, acrylic, graphics and gouache works at several centers around the world such as Canada, London, Pakistan, Baroda, New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata since her first show of Oil Paintings at Delhi in 1969. Designed and hoisted a flag at International River Front, Liverpool Festival in 1994. Also participated in several Print Biennales at Bangladesh, Algiers, Ankara, Cuba, France, Rome, England, Yugoslavia to mention a few. She has won several awards which include: 12th Cleveland International Drawing Biennale, Middlesbrough, UK in 1995
National Award, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 1990
Jurys Commendation Certificate in the First International Biennale of Plastic Arts in Algiers in 1987 and a Fellowship from Department of Culture, New Delhi in 1986-88. She lives and works in New Delhi.
