Biography

Nandita Chaudhuri is an Indian artist who for the past 15 years, has been working and residing in London. In the period of her relocation to the United Kingdom, she has to acquired a number of educational qualifications in the field of visual arts. She holds an MA in Visual Arts from Camberwell, University of Arts, London and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Chelsea College of Art and Design. She has also completed a foundation course from the Slade school of Art, a painting and sculpture course from the Central Saint Martins, and a course in Restoration and Medieval Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art.

Her work has garnered great appreciation from the audiences, along with an endorsement from Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, the President of The Royal Academy for the Arts. Borne out of an infusion of British influences with Indian roots, her work has been recognized to be intensely transnational in nature. Recently, in 2010 she has been invited to participate in an event which is being billeted as one of London’s biggest public art exhibitions. The event shall be partnered by Sotheby’s who will auction the works from the event, for a wildlife conservations project. Although Nandita primarily uses the canvas as her site for artistic expressions, she further extends the issues reflected in her paintings, by exploring the mediums of installation and film.

Nandita holds various shows and participations to her credit, such as the Florence Biennale (2009), Vyner Street Gallery (2009), London, Frieze Art Fair(2009), Lapidarium National Museum – Common exhibition project of Czech Baroque Foundation and Brooks Gallery, Prague (2009), the Art Prague Fair, Prague(2009), Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London(2009), Special Commission–Auction – Grand Prix – France, Monaco ( 2008), Visual Arts Gallery, Delhi ( 2008).
