Biography

Born 1956, Bangalore, India, she has received his B.A. in Economics, English and Psychology, from Bangalore University (1977); B.A in Sculpture, from MS University, Baroda (1982) and: M.A. in Sculpture from MS University, Baroda (1985).

She has participated in numerous group shows including;‘Avega- The Passion’, Galerie Zurcher, Paris in 2013; ‘The Return of the Phantom Lady (Sinful City)’, Nature Morte, The Oberoi Gurgaon in 2012; ‘Motherland’, performance with Mamta Sagar, Samuha Artist Collective, Bangalore in 2010; ‘Paris Autumn’, Bose Pacia Gallery, New York in 2008; Streetside Theatre’; Salzburg Festival, Austria in 2007; ‘The Anguished Heart’, British Council, New Delhi in 2003.

Her works have been included in many group shows including \'Poses and Views\', Nature Morte, Berlin in 2013; \'Against All Odds: A Contemporary Response to the Historiography of Archiving Collecting in 2011; \'At The Edge\', Gallery Maya, London in 2010; \'After Colour\', Bose Pacia New York in 2009; \'Still Moving Image\', Devi Art Foundation, New Delhi in 2008; \'My India\', Video et Apres, Centre Pompidou, Paris in 2008; ‘Face East’, Contemporary Asian Portraiture, Wedel Fine Art, London in 2007-08;\'New Indian Art\', Manchester Art Gallery, UK in 2002; \'Ways of Resisting\', Sahmat, New Delhi in 2002;, \'Century City\' Tate Modern, London, UK in 2001; \'Moving Ideas\' Hoopoe Curatorial, Montreal and Vancouver, Canada in 2001; Khoj International Residency, New Delhi in 2001; Open Circle International Workshop, Mumbai in 2000. In 1999 she curated an exhibition of large site specific works, Sthala Puranagalu, Bangalore.

She is the recipient of many honors, including the National Award in 1984; the gold medal at the Sixth New Delhi Triennale in 1986; the Charles Wallace Trust Fellowship for residency at St. Martin\'s School of Art, London in 1992-93; the Senior Fellowship, Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development in 1995-97. She lives and works in Bangalore.
