Biography

Born1953 , Punjab received his Diploma from Punjab University, Chandigarh in 1975 and taught it the Fine Arts Department of the University till 1977 and at the Delhi College of Art, London between 1985-87.

He has held many solo shows of his works with the most recent at \'Fables\', presented by Volte Gallery at Saffronart, New Delhi in 2011-12; \'Sweet Unease\', Volte, Mumbai in 2010-11; \'Reading Man\', Nature Morte, New Delhi; Bose Pacia, New York in 2009; ‘Fables From The House Of Ibaan: Stage –I’, Bose Pacia, New York in 2008; ‘Consider’, Multi-media installation commissioned for permanent display at Spertus Museum, Chicago in 2007; ‘Crossing’, Bose Pacia, New York in 2005.

He has also participated in several group shows including ;Volte Gallery, ‘Your Name is different there’, Mumbai in 2012 ; Prague Biennale 5, Prague Biennale Photo 2, ‘Crossroads: India Escalate’, Prague, Czech Republic in 2011; Chalo India at the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, in 2008; a multi-media installation commissioned to the permanent collection of the Spertus Museum, Chicago, in 2007; Horn Please: The Narrative in Contemporary Indian Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Berne, in 2007; Art Video Lounge at Art Basel Miami Beach, Miami, in 2006; Hungry God: Indian Contemporary Art at Busan Museum of Modern Art, South Korea in 2006; iCon: India Contemporary at the Venice Biennale, 2005; Edge of Desire: Recent Art in India at the Asia Society, New York, in 2005; Culturgest-Lisbon in 2004; Zoom! Art in Contemporary India, Lisbon, in 2004; and subTerrain: Indian Contemporary Art at the House of World Culture, Berlin, in 2003.

He was awarded the National Award by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 1979 and the Sanskriti Award, New Delhi in 1986. He lives and works in New Delhi.
