Biography

Born in 1983, Kolkata.

Vinita Dasgupta completed BFA and MFA from the College of Art, New Delhi.

Internationally acclaimed for her unique new media artworks, Vinita weaves layers, colours, shapes and textures into her artworks, to softly bring out balance and harmony. Inspired by the natural world, traditional culture as well as pop art, the layers of life are metaphors for Vinita Dasgupta’s art. Her inspiration comes from India’s rich cultural heritage mixed with India’s modern urban culture. She is best known for her signature `rolled’ art images of iconic feminist women and men created from miniature canvases painted with old scrolls, sanskrit texts, modern newspaper print, paper, photo images and paint.

She has participated in over 70 art exhibitions in Delhi and Mumbai and internationally in London, Singapore, Geneva and Dubai. She has been regularly exhibiting at the prestigious India Art Fair and was represented by Gallery Art Lounge Portugal in 2015. She was awarded the “Art for social change award” by the United Nations Population Fund-India, New Delhi 2008.

Vinita Dasgupta lives and works in Delhi.
