Prabhakar Kolte

Prabhakar Kolte: Born 1946, Nerur Par (Maharashtra), completed his diploma from Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai (1968). He later joined Sir J. J. School of Art (1972) and taught for 22 years till he retired (1994). He has held many solo shows across the country and abroad and participated in group shows including Contemporary Art in Maharashtra(1975); VIth International Triennale, Lalit Kala Akademi; Ist National Bharat Bhavan Biennale, Bhopal (1986); Six Indian Painters, Yugoslavia, Ankara & Istanbul (1985); Contemporary Artists from SAARC countries, NGMA(1992); Three Artists, Hong Kong (1995); Galerie Foundation for Indian Artists, Amsterdam(1996); “Modern Indian Art”, New York (2001); “Tatva - The Elements”, London (2006). Kolte’s abstract layering with paint echo cityscapes where the signs and textures reveal his modernist consciousness. He lives and works in Mumbai.
