Celebrating Spring | Maite Delteil & Maya Burman
16th March 2017 - 31st March 2017
The Taj Mahal Hotel Number One, Mansingh Road New Delhi View WorksOn the onset of Spring, we bring our first series ‘Celebrating Spring’ to celebrate nature and life by showcasing the works of renowned artists, Maite Delteil and Maya Burman.
The works of Maite Delteil and Maya Burman are being drawn from the diverse aesthetics of their Indian and French culture. While their works are distinct, they both explore nature through bright colours.
Maite was brought up in the French countryside and received her education at the Ecole Des Beaus-Arts, Paris. Following her marriage to Kolkata-born painter Sakti Burman, she was introduced to India and its culture. Her works are picturesque, replete with lush greenery, flowers in full bloom and birds that congregate about trees painted in bright rounds of flowers. Her paintings bring nature in its picture perfect form as nature is close to her heart.
Maya Burman is known for her delicate, detailed and evocative paintings. Most of her works are permeated with what the French call a sense of joie-de-vivre: a hearty or carefree enjoyment of life. Her mischievous and humorous forms are accented by a bright palette that enhances the festive air and celebratory nature of her work. The figures are surrounded by an overabundance of flora and fauna that populate her fantasy land that she escapes into. Maya’s works reflect a timeless celebration of life.
