S. Harsha Vardhana

S. Harshavardhana was born in 1958, in the family of the late master Jagdish
Swaminathan. He worked in the Bio Medical industry for years before realising
his true passion for art; he pursued arts becoming a fulltime practicing artist
since 1993. He works on canvas and paper, majorly painting with his hands giving
masterly strokes and spontaneous action of colours and textures in his work
creating a lyrical harmony overlaid with the artistic view deeply inspired by tribal
art and symbols.
Harshavardhana had his first solo show in 1997 with numerous solo and group
exhibitions around the globe. His signature shows include exhibitions at Bharat
Bhavan Biennale of Indian Contemporary Art Bhopal 1996, Post-modern Indian
Art: Turlock, California 1997, International Art Fair Singapore 2004, First Biennale
of contemporary Art, Romania 2005, the Georgia Museum of Art in 2006, 2D/3D
Hong Kong 2009, Diverse Idioms, Hong Kong 2007, A Collection of Indian
Contemporary Art Andrewshire Gallery, Singapore 2006, Ideations: Colour, Form,
Dimensions & Space, Art Alive Gallery 2012, Contemporary collection, A Group
Show at Art Alive Gallery 2016, India Art Fair 2016 and 2017, Art Now series of
four edition 2016-2019 and Shridharni Gallery Triveni Kala Sangam 2022. He has
also held solo shows in US, Belgium and many more across multiple cities in India.
He lives and works in New Delhi.
