When Objects Speak When Objects Speak brings together two compelling artistic inquiries by Anjaneyulu G and Vipul Rathod, each looking at the object as a narrative device in distinctive, yet, resonant ways. While differing in medium, sensibility, and artistic language, both artists engage deeply with the afterlives of things: the ways objects outlive their immediate functions to become vessels of remembrance, identity and lived history. Anjaneyulu G’s works draw attention to everyday objects, foregrounding the emotional and historical residues they carry. Rendered in hyper realistic form, he separates the objects from their utilitarian use and places them into a suspended condition - recognizable, yet no longer belonging entirely to the world they once inhabited. In contrast, Vipul Rathod’s visual language is formed by multifarious articles organized within grid-like structures, resembling cabinets that encase miniaturized papier-mâché forms. The artifacts move beyond their pragmatic function. Miniscule in proportion, they are not mere literal representations of everyday objects but are metaphorical representations of the artist’s thoughts and responses to his surroundings. Carrying the essence of varied experiences and material encounters, they transform the familiar into reflections on contemporary life through forms. Together, their practices create a dialogue between preservation and transformation. At its core, When Objects Speak asks us to listen differently, to recognize that objects are not passive possessions, but active participants in human narratives. They bear witness to aspirations, struggles, migrations and changing economies of everyday life. In listening to these silent companions, we encounter not only forgotten stories embedded within material culture, but also reflections of our own existence.
